No one is talking about this book review5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() Oh, so I had heard of her! Or, at least, I saw mention of her on these lists and was intrigued but (like hundreds of other writers) haven't got around to reading her work yet. The abbreviated biographical understanding I got from the succinct biography provided on wikipedia was that she first gained fame on twitter (having successfully baited publications like The Paris Review into joining in jokey banter), published two collections of poems as well as the poem “Rape Joke” which went viral in 2013 and the memoir “Priestdaddy” in 2017 which the Times included on its list “The 50 Best Memoirs of the Past 50 Years” and the Guardian named as one of its “100 Best Books of the 21st Century”. *epic fail* Of course, whenever someone is trending who everyone seems to love but I've not heard of or couldn't recall I did the thing you're meant to do and googled her. ![]() I wasn't even aware of Patricia Lockwood. As soon as I saw the online hype surrounding Patricia Lockwood's debut novel I knew I was out of touch with the internet. ![]()

Though Chima began writing poems and stories in third grade and novels in junior high school, her path to becoming a published author was rather circuitous. Shattered Realms will be a four-book series, with the second installment, Stormcaster, due out in winter 2017. The novel brings together a trained teenage healer tempted to use his magical gifts in a different way to avenge a cruel king, and a downtrodden girl, abandoned at birth, who is hunted by the monarch’s guards. ![]() On April 5, HarperTeen will release Flamecaster, the launch title of the Shattered Realms series, introducing the next generation of characters living in that same universe. Though she wrapped up her Seven Realms series with 2012’s The Crimson Crown, Cinda Williams Chima has not left that fantasy world behind. ![]() Stolen Mage Bride by Sylvia Mercedes5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() Oh, and there's a true snake of an antagonist to drive the plot forward and !! It's truly an enemies to lovers, and it's delicious as we watch these two babies learn who they are and who they want to be.
